India executed a high-level military operation named Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror bases located in Pakistan and PoK, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation was marked by surgical precision and strategic execution, carried out in the early hours of May 6, 2025.
Operation Sindoor is a covert military strike led by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, supported by intelligence agencies. It was aimed at neutralizing key terror infrastructure believed to be responsible for orchestrating and supporting attacks on Indian soil.
According to defense officials, the strikes targeted camps belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the regions of:
Bahawalpur (Pakistan)
Muzaffarabad (PoK)
Kotli (PoK)
The operation lasted about 25 minutes, from 1:05 AM to 1:30 AM IST, and involved precision-guided missiles, aerial surveillance, and special ops validation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing his cabinet post-operation, confirmed the success of the mission:
“The mission was executed flawlessly. Our forces have shown unparalleled courage and precision. This is a clear message — India will not tolerate terrorism, whether within or beyond our borders.”
He emphasized that the strikes were not against any nation or religion but were targeted actions against terrorist networks threatening India’s sovereignty.
The operation destroyed:
Training centers, arms depots, and launch pads used by terrorist groups
Infiltration routes frequently used to enter Indian territory across the LoC
Underground command and control centers used for planning attacks
Intelligence inputs had revealed increased activity in these areas after the Pahalgam attack, prompting swift military action.
The Pakistan Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, calling them a “grave violation of territorial integrity” and claimed civilian casualties. However, Indian defense sources denied the allegation, stating that all targets were confirmed non-civilian, and no collateral damage occurred.
The Pakistan Army has been placed on high alert, with border tension escalating.
United Nations: Called for “maximum restraint” and urged dialogue
United States: Recognized India’s right to self-defense; urged de-escalation
France & Russia: Condemned terrorism and supported India’s actions
United Kingdom: Former PM Rishi Sunak expressed solidarity, stating, “India has a right to protect its citizens from terrorism.”
The Indian public and political spectrum have overwhelmingly supported the operation:
Citizens took to social media using hashtags like #OperationSindoor, #IndiaStrikesBack, and #JusticeForPahalgam
Opposition parties expressed support but called for transparency on civilian impact
Defense analysts hailed the operation as a “strategic success with minimal risk”
With Operation Sindoor, India has once again displayed its ability and willingness to carry out targeted military responses to cross-border terrorism. This operation follows the precedent set by the 2016 Surgical Strikes and the 2019 Balakot Airstrikes, marking a clear shift toward zero tolerance for terror threats.
Operation Sindoor represents more than just a military maneuver — it is a strategic and moral statement against terrorism. With the global community watching closely, India has asserted its right to defend its people, sending a stern warning to terror organizations operating across the border.
As border tensions rise, the path ahead remains uncertain, but India’s message is clear: Terror will be met with strength.
